Zaporizhzhia State Medical University, one of the oldest medical higher institutions of Ukraine, is a self-governing (autonomous) state higher educational establishment of the IVth (the top) level of accreditation. The University became an international higher institution long ago. In 1973 the preparatory faculty for foreign citizens was opened.
Its history dates back to the Higher Women’s Courses organized in Odessa in 1903. In 1959 the school was transferred from Odessa to Zaporizhia and renamed the Zaporizhia Pharmaceutical Institute, and in 1968 – the Zaporizhia Medical Institute.
In 1994, the media received the status of State Medical University of IV level of accreditation, the main tasks of which are the provision of higher education services at the level of specialist, bachelor, and master, as well as postgraduate training of specialists in an internship, master’s degree, postgraduate studies, doctoral studies and advanced training of doctors and pharmacists.
The college began with a goal to give the best medical education to medical aspirants around the world. ZSMU has turned into a well-known focal point of preparation for MD, Masters of Pharmacy, and Bachelors for undergraduates from Ukraine and outside nations. ZSMU provides educational services to applicants for higher education, strictly adhering to the current legislation.
In terms of staff, the university is one of the three best state medical schools: as of September 1, 2018, the university has 808 teachers, including 131 doctors of sciences/professors and 483 associate professors and candidates of sciences.
